Kiki has to apologize. Don't feel like going to Akiba plus there is tons of work to do. I only had one purpose to go to Akiba today, I brought Elena, a Spanish photojournalist to take pictures of Hibari-tei for Spanish guide books and magazines.
(Check out her photos of Yukiro and Ichigoneko in the previous two posts and more here) I wasn't intending to stay for long because Hokoten is gone and the people were going to Sofmap to mourn, adding to the depression... and so I didn't bring my camera along >< Actually I brought nothing but me, myself and my bicycle. Are you expecting an Akiba Sunday report today? If so.. gomen nasai..
Actually, as I have expected, there was nothing much to capture today, no Hokoten and no live performers at the Yodobashi side too because of the police. Because of that, everyone gathered in front of the Electric Town exit (aka ekimae). Imagine the Hokoten and Yodobashi side population all converging to this already maid and idol congested area.
If you have been to Akiba after the K Incident, you'll notice a strange presence of blue uniforms; the policemen or the "Omawarisan" as the Japanese calls them have increased in Akiba since the K Incident. But today I saw at least seven of them at the Electric Town exit of JR Station all in a proximity of less than five meters. There is probably more policemen in Akihabara than in anywhere else in Japan today. But amongst the crowd was the surprise - an Akiba-kei regular, Yoshifumi Naruse, who has a penchant for wearing uniforms was in Policeman cosplay! If you look through past Akiba Sunday Reports and on Youtube you can find him in various uniforms, usually military-related. For those who find him familiar, he is the eloquent seventeen year old boy who said "We should be proud of being Otaku!" in the famous Coca-cola vending machine youtube campaign. I really like his cosplay and today he made my day by cosplaying as a policeman!! He even had a walkie talkie in his pocket and all the little accessories! I was so amused and angry at myself for not bringing my camera to Akiba. I was so determined to show this to you guys that I got him to send me a picture of himself, so this is the only picture taken by his mobile phone that I could share with you guys. This is probably more like a blog entry but I'll have it here in case anyone is expecting the Akiba Sunday Report.

Cosplayer of the Day: the Legendary Yoshifumi Naruse

Somehow he looks delicious. ^^;; Nice cosplay too.. the details... thumbs up. I have my camera always with me, despite how bulky it is (EOS 450D). Though my aims go rather for nice looking things, cosplayers arent about in germany unless there is a convention OR free Pocky around the corner.
Akiba feels more dangerous to walk around than usual now, with the presence of omawarisans.
I've seen 6 omawarisans along Orchard road in Singapore just today...
